Our Philosophy |
We are a small company with a big ethos. We pride ourselves on quality, hard work, integrity and a real passion for what we do; this compels us to bring the same standard of craftsmanship and customer care to every project: the only standard that is acceptable. This is the Craftwork Philosophy. |
| Expertise |
Our skills cover a wide variety of trades, as you would expect from a refurbishment and decorating firm and some you might not. For instance, we have connections in interior design and have had artwork commissioned for clients through our connections with local artists and interior designers. Working in all types of homes in most areas of London, our specialist skills are particularly suited to period properties. We have extensively renovated and refurbished many period properties and restored them to their former glory. By working closely with the client, architect or interior designer we can achieve the desired result, be it traditional, modern, even a mix of both. Through our extensive works in prestigious areas of London we can bring a unique look to any home anywhere. |
| Period Properties in the 21st Century |
All building work must comply with building regulations, regardless of the age of the house. Our job is twofold: to meet those regulations and to retain the authentic look of the period. This sometimes requires a little extra work, but the result is well worth the effort. For example, the regulations require fire doors to be fitted when you have your loft converted. However, you don't have to replace your existing oak-panelled doors. We can bring them up to fire-regulation standards, enabling you to keep your original crafted doors with their detailing and period features. We can draughtproof your existing sash windows to provide unseen insulation that does not compromise the original look of the window. We have a wealth of expertise that includes building structure, original plaster coving and cornices, ceiling roses, fireplaces, etc. and the correct materials to be used - right down to the paint and paper. Our meticulous approach is proved to be correct when our work is examined by the best critics: our customers, the building inspector and the camera. |
| Clientele |
The majority of our clients and projects are in the residential sector, though it is not uncommon for our services to be called upon for commercial or even municipal contracts. As you read this, it's most likely that we are at work in somebody's home. Otherwise, we could be applying the Craftwork touch to improve the look and feel of the offices of an image-conscious businessman. Our portfolio includes involvement in town hall renovation, but these jobs are not very frequent. |
| Key Personnel |
Proprietor: Chris Johnson is a time-served plasterer, painter and decorator who takes a hands-on approach and is on site from start to finish regardless of the size of the project. Stephen Birch has been in the building trade for over twenty years. He comes from a carpentry-based trade, but has learnt many skills connected with the building trade due to his extensive technical, product and material knowledge and is, in our opinion, one of the best technical men in the business. All the men and women who work for Craftwork Interiors are fully-qualified, fully-insured tradesmen and women. |
